Transactional Analysis Training Programme

Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling
The Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling is awarded by COSCA. This diploma forms the basis for obtaining professional recognition from COSCA. Recognition and registration with professional bodies is by compliance with practice requirements (see COSCA for further information). The diploma can also form the basis for recognition by BACP.

Upon completion of the Foundation Year, Advanced Year 1 and Advanced Year 2 of training, students can sit the diploma exam. Delivery of the diploma course requires the active participation of students and in addition to taught material there is supervised practice, other work in small groups and client work in placements. Assignments include presentations, written assignments and a case study. Completion of the Introduction to Counselling Skills course (the first three training days of the Foundation Year) is a compulsory component for those wishing to take the Diploma exam at the end of Advanced Year 2.

The final year of training for the COSCA Diploma is also the first year of MSc training, and many students will go on to complete an MSc in TA Counselling or Psychotherapy with CTA. This provides the option to complete a psychotherapy qualification and to obtain the Certified Transactional Analyst Psychotherapy (CTA) award. Students may then apply to register with UKCP.
